Today we went to not one, but two orchards. It was so much fun! The weather was gorgeous and we got all the fall things. Because of the weather this year, there are apple shortages so we went earlier than we usually do were able to get the apples we wanted for making applesauce. 50 pounds of them! I wasn’t sure we were going to get to do all the fun fall things this year with everything going on, but God gave us a beautiful and fun day! Do you have apple orchards where you live?

I love photographs of a Wisconsin bluff filled with colorful trees or a forest decorated in golden leaves. I like to be overwhelmed by a beautiful scene. But sometimes beauty is in the details, the small things of life. This single leaf caught my eye this week. It’s small and vibrant and the more you look at it, the more details you notice. One thing I notice is that this beautiful leaf is laying on a road filled with dirt and debris, but that doesn’t take away from its beauty. There’s a life lesson in there I think. I’m all about finding joy for the journey so I loved this quote about noticing joy in the ordinary. But sometimes that’s really hard. Like today. I had to go to the dentist for part two of something simple that caused me great pain a couple of weeks ago. This time was supposed to be better because they planned on numbing the whole left side of my mouth. The numbing was incredibly painful and made me cry. Even though half my face was numb I could still feel my sensitive gums when they were working on me. They had to add some topical numbing on top of the first numbing. By the time they were done, I had sweat right through my clothes. Even gentle dentists can cause great stress when your mouth is as sensitive as mine!

Honestly, I had a hard time finding joy in my journey this morning. Nothing makes me pray more than a trip to the dentist! 😂 So what was my joy? Honestly, it was that I survived and I don’t have to go back to the dentist until January! But I also took great comfort in knowing my Jesus knows what it means to suffer and He cares about my life, even my trips to the dentist. Whatever you’re going through, He can help you too. I’m so glad I won’t ever have to go to the dentist in Heaven! Now that brings me joy! Where are you finding joy for your journey today?
