Nature’s Path

Nature's Path Nature’s Path

Two years ago we had the perfect fall. I don’t remember ever seeing the leaves so bright and colorful – and if you know me at all, you know that I love color! One of the best places to view the fall leaves in western Wisconsin is at Hoffman Hills.

My good friend Erin had picked the perfect year, and the perfect month, to visit. We both struggle with health problems so we had been praying for the perfect day. For us that meant a good health day, a boost of energy, and a beautiful day. Like the good Father that He is, the Lord blessed us with just what we had asked for.

We adult-napped my mom and had a girls day exploring God’s beautiful creation. From the moment we stepped on the “easy” path at Hoffman Hills, under the canopy of leaves in every shade of fall colors, we knew we were in for something special.

We took our time hiking the hills, making frequent stops to rest and take photos. (I have to admit that stopping to take photos is the perfect excuse to rest my tired ol’ body without admitting that I’m tired!) We made it not only to the top of the big hill, but to the top of the fire tower. The view was incredible!

However, that wasn’t the best view of the day. As we were heading back to the car the sun was at the right height to illuminate flowers, leaves, and grasses. Even those weren’t the best views of the day.

We were almost back to the car when I rounded the corner to a breath-taking view. My mom and Erin had wandered ahead as I dilly-dallied behind taking pictures. The path I was on was covered in fallen leaves, crisp and colorful underfoot. Surrounded by beauty, the stark contrast of white birch trees among colorful trees was a spectacular sight.

I snapped away and was so pleased with the result. A wonderful photograph to remember a wonderful day with family and friend. It was a day we had prayed for; a day that was a gift from God because He loves us.

And that, my friends, is the story of how I captured Nature’s Path. (Click to Tweet!)

Until next time,

Josie
