The historic safe at Scatterbrain Cafe has been turned into a Library/Reading Room and it’s officially open! I got to see it today and it’s fantastic. It’s cozy and inviting. Of course there are books, there’s a place to read, a place to work, and games to play. I even found Howie there and that was so special! If you’re in the area, stop by and spend some time in the Scatterbrain Cafe Library. Read Howie’s Broken Hee-Haw, have a cup of locally roasted Scatterbrain Coffee, indulge in a homemade snack or meal, and enjoy some YOU time in the coolest new place in Downsville, Wisconsin!

Happy Flower Friday from some beautiful roses. They were across the street from an incredible B&B I stayed at this week in Dubuque, Iowa. I hadn’t seen my best friend in 5 years. She lives in Europe and because of shutdowns the last few years we missed celebrating our 40th birthdays together. So when her family came to visit this month her sister planned an amazing adventure for us to celebrate in style. She treated us to a night in the most beautiful B&B that was built in 1883. It’s currently being renovated on the outside and gave me all the @jaimejowright book vibes. Yesterday we took a 1-day cruise on the Mississippi River on the Riverboat Twilight. It was the most incredible time with my sisters from another mother. We packed five years into almost 24 hours and made so many incredible memories. It was the most special of times and I’m so thankful!

Update: Thanks to my friend Ben Cooper’s bee wisdom, I learned this is not a bee, but a fly! They’re often called bee flies. After learning it was a fly I did some more research and found out this particular kind is often called a flower fly because they’re frequently observed visiting flowers. I love this so much! What a wonderful little creature. I didn’t even know such a thing existed! 💛

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a perfect and beautiful little bee! I just had to share this flower hijaker on a steamy Flower Friday. I have some writing to do this afternoon, a doctor appointment tomorrow, and church on Sunday. I’m looking forward to some of those things! I’m so honored to be part of the first-ever KidLit Virtual Conference hosted by @endgamepress! If you write for kids, or have ever thought about writing for kids, this is the conference for you. KidLit is everything from Board Books to YA and there really is something for everyone.

The other instructors are Michelle Medlock Adams, Hope Bolinger, Crystal Bowman, Wendy Hinote Lanier, Jill Roman Lord, and Lori Scott. It’s a bit surreal to see my name listed as faculty alongside these incredibly talented writers. This weekend I did some writing, took this little one to the Farmer’s Market (which she LOVES), went to church, had lunch out, and spent the rest of the weekend reading. The Scruffy Princess loves to lay on my legs when I read. I had to put my book down and capture her cuteness! Today I finished the article I’ve been working on and I’m feeling quite productive!
