I love this quote from @susielarsonauthor’s new

I love this quote from @susielarsonauthor’s new Advent book, “Prepare Him Room.” This book is powerful and I highly recommend reading it, even if you finish after Christmas!

I took this photograph at a wildlife drive-through in Nebraska. I wanted to pair the quote with something green that speaks of new life and our journey with Jesus. Placing our faith in Jesus Christ does so much more than save us from hell. Life with Jesus is an amazing adventure! He is so much more than our Savior. He’s our Advocate, Friend, Brother, and radical Redeemer. He loves us unconditionally. He carries our burdens, walks with us, strengthens us, and gives us joy for our journey.

Do you know my Jesus? He’s amazing! He can be your Jesus too if you choose to accept His free gift of forgiveness and believe in Him. I can tell you, He’s worth following!

Today is Donkey Fun Friday and I’m excited to introduce you to Jesse. He lives with Gabriella and lots of animal friends on a farm in Wisconsin. Jesse is a rescue donkey. He was formerly abused, but he’s doing so much better now. He’s turning into a smart and loving boy!

Gabriella wrote in a recent Instagram post:

“He seems to bond the most when we train, loves a good challenge and reward. When I first got him he jumped at a touch, had many marks on him, and would run when I took the halter out. He also was a HUGE kicker, anything that triggered fear, he would kick and run.

Now he is the first to greet me at the gate and gets SO excited to see the halter he actually pushes my hand to put it on faster because he knows we’re about to train! He knows touch, step, wait, foot up, and back for commands and we are having so fun learning. Next up we will work on learning directions and ground driving. Oh and I’m teaching him to hug 😂❤️

He still has quite a bit of fears to work on but I expect that years to come. And now when a fear is triggered he doesn’t kick, he jumps and shies away. I know, still sad, but this means he respects us enough that if a fear is triggered around his humans, he knows not to kick.”

Christmas in Chaos Advent Devotion: Week 1
"Surprises in the Family Tree"

Why would God include genealogies in the Bible? Many people find them boring and skip over them while reading. However, genealogies are far more than a list of hard to pronounce names. They tell us that the people we read about were real. They had families and a history, just like we do. More importantly, they show us that Jesus’ earthly family was far from perfect. His ancestors included liars, manipulators, prostitutes, and murderers. Shocking? Yes. Scandalous? Absolutely - but also encouraging. It shows us that God can use anyone for His glory. He saves us, redeems us, and transforms us. No one is beyond His help and saving grace. God has a plan for the world, and He has a plan for each of us. Whatever our past looks like, it is God who determines our future. Will you choose to accept His grace and follow Him today?

Dear Lord God, thank You for sending Your Son into this world in physical form. Thank You for placing Him in the right family at the right time in history - and that You have done the same for us. We live in a challenging world right now, but we know You have placed each of us here for a reason. You don’t make mistakes! Thank You that our past does not hinder our future with You. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. Help us to walk in obedience to You as we live with intention the rest of our days. Amen.
