I noticed them immediately as I pulled into my parent’s driveway. Their perky pinkness captured my eye and brought a smile to my face. After going in the house and dropping my purse, keys, and book in a pile on the chair by the counter I grabbed my phone and headed out to capture some perky peonies.
I leaned in, getting as close as the camera on my phone would allow. I stepped back, capturing several in one shot. I crouched down and captured them from below. I skirted the edge of the garden and hopped from rock to rock until I stood on the large one next to the peonies. Balancing precariously I captured them from above.
Getting off the rock was a little trickier. Nearly avoiding a trip and a tumble I landed hard on my feet on the cement driveway. With a pleased smirk on my face I headed for the house. But I couldn’t resist one last glance over my shoulder, and that’s when I saw her. A perfectly perky peony smiling up at me.
Walking over, I got my camera ready for one last shot. I bent over, straightened a little, moved a smidge to the right, and captured her. Perfect petals, soft and delicate. Dancing yellow center, and a strong green stem. No blemish or bug marred her pretty face. She was perfect.
And that, my friends, is the story of how I captured The Perky Peony. Click to Tweet!
Until we meet again,
Josie
