Wisconsin Farmland

The sky was clear and blue, decorated with a few light and wispy clouds. It was the perfect evening to chase the sunset. My favorite photography buddy (a.k.a. my mom) and I grabbed our gear and jumped in her Jeep Wrangler.

We bounced along the back country roads in search of the perfect spot. It didn’t take us long to find an open field with a glorious view. There was even a small place to pull off along the road, though it wouldn’t have mattered much if there wasn’t. I don’t think we encountered a single vehicle on our adventure – one of the benefits of living in the boonies!

We hopped out of the Jeep and took a few photos of the sunbeams over the fields. Golden hour was just beginning, that magic time of day when everything transforms into an extra special kind of beautiful. I was reminded that the rolling green hills of Wisconsin are one of God’s most perfect creations.

It wasn’t long before the mosquitoes chased us back into the safety of the Jeep. We watched the sun set, jumping out to take pictures of the changing sky every few minutes. There’s something so peaceful about watching the sun set. It gives you a chance to quiet your heart and soak in beauty that has never been seen before and will never be seen exactly the same way again.

Sunsets are unique, just like people. No two are the same and each is special. I captured some beautiful sunset photographs that night, but my favorite shot had already been captured. It isn’t as dramatic or flashy as the sunset photos, but it’s just as unique and just as special.
